This program will bring all friends and chosen family – of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures – together to share a meal while celebrating the spirit of community, creating a sense of fellowship and unity, and expressing appreciation for one another. There will be food, trivia, and a movie — Encanto!
This program recognizes that Thanksgiving, as a holiday, has a dark and painful history, rooted in the mistreatment and dispossession of Indigenous people. Furthermore, it will emphasize the importance of inclusivity and a willingness to learn from the past – reminding all that we can acknowledge historical injustices and work towards a more just and compassionate tomorrow.
